Een korte documentaire over een moedige en speciale Colombiaanse vrouw: Diana Navarro Sanjuan.
Diana combineert prostitutie, mensenrechtenactivisme en haar carrière als advocaat om haar wereld te veranderen in een betere.
In 2012 gingen we naar Colombia met de missie een portret te maken over de meest inspirerende persoon die we konden vinden. Er lag een script klaar en na enkele weken zoeken vonden we Diana.
Na de eerste kennismaking wilde ze graag meewerken, wat haar betreft konden we meteen beginnen. En zo geschiede: de volgende ochtend om 05:00 uur stonden we in haar badkamer haar ochtendritueel te filmen.
We wisten in die tijd weinig over transgenderisme, prostitutie, sociaal werk en rechten in Colombia, wat resulteerde in een hoop nieuwe ervaringen. In dit interview met Vice kun je hier meer over lezen.
De film is wereldwijd vertoond op verschillende filmfestivals en won een prijs voor beste short doc bij het Side by Side festival in Rusland.
Er zijn plannen om een langere documentaire over Diana te maken. Op het moment zijn we op zoek naar een Colombiaanse producent en financiële middelen. Neem contact met ons op als je hier ideeën over hebt of de film wilt vertonen.

A short documentary about a courageous and special Colombian woman: Diana Navarro Sanjuan. Diana combines prostitution, human rights activism and her career as a lawyer to change the world around her into a better one.
Together with Cas van der Pas, we went to Colombia in 2012 to with the idea of a portrait of the most inspiring person we could find. Already equipped with a framework for a documentary, we searched for some weeks. With the help of a group of Danish students, we found Diana.
After explaining our ideas, Diana was happy to participate. The next day at 5AM, we were already filming her morning ritual. We did not know much about transgenderism, prostitution, social work and law in Colombia, so we gained numerous new experiences. You can read more about this in an interview with Vice.
Since we finished the final edit in 2013, the film has been screened in various film festivals around the world and won a prize for best short doc on the “Side by Side” festival in Russia.
There are plans to make a longer documentary about Diana’s life. At the moment, we are looking for Colombian producers and financial resources. Do not hesitate to contact us to share your ideas, or if you are interested to screen the film.
